About us

Speedpour was founded in 1997 by Jason Jelicich, a pioneer in the Australian Bar Industry.

Speedpour started as an idea when Jason was working in Marketing at Diageo (then UDV) Australia. After noticing a large short-fall in the knowledge & skill levels of bartenders in venues he was dealing with, Jason made a recommendation to Diageo to open a bartender training division. His request was denied so, unperturbed, he decided to resign from his post and open his own bartender training school, which was subsequently named Speedpour.

Speedpour was to represent a new way of doing things; fast & efficiently, professionally. Speedpours first client was the Castle Hill Tavern, where the first Speed & Efficiency program was conducted. From there Speedpour began training venue all over the country. In 2000, Speedpour opened a barschool in Broadways Sydney, which quickly became one of the most popular schools of it’s kind. Courses extended to Cocktails & Flair Bartending.

In 2002, Jason was approached by Diageo to help design & implement the Perfect Serve program, the first program of it’s kind to educated bartenders en masse in venues all over the country. Speedpour hired trainers and rolled out the program across the country, training 5000 bartenders over the first year alone.

In 2005 Speedpour partnered with Barmetrix to create an all-in-one venue consulting practice, covering both back of house stock control and front of house training. The partnership grew both businesses until it was decided that Speedpour should be fully absorbed into Barmetrix.

Barmetrix continued to grow and now has franchisees/ licensees in the US, UK, Canada & Australia.

In 2010 Jason decided to reignite Speedpour, a company that played an intergral role in the expanstion of professional bartending around the country. Still working closely with Barmetrix, Speedpour now focuses on the supply & distribution of cutting edge training systems for bar & beverage industry.
